Eligibility Requirements
Eligible Applicants
- ✓ Registered farmers with valid FAREI card
- ✓ Agricultural cooperatives
- ✓ New farmers with approved business plan
- ✓ Women and youth entrepreneurs (priority)
- ✓ Mauritian citizens or permanent residents
Not Eligible
- ✗ Applicants with outstanding government loans
- ✗ Previous grant recipients (within 3 years)
- ✗ Non-agricultural businesses
- ✗ Foreign nationals (non-residents)
- ✗ Companies without agricultural focus
Application Process
Register with FAREI
Visit your nearest FAREI office with ID card, proof of land access, and passport photos. Registration is free and takes 2-3 days.
Prepare Business Plan
Develop a detailed farming plan including crop selection, production targets, market strategy, and financial projections.
Get Equipment Quotations
Obtain at least 3 quotations from registered suppliers for all equipment you plan to purchase. Quotations must be valid for 60 days.
Submit Application
Submit your complete application to FAREI with all supporting documents. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Receive Grant & Purchase
Once approved, you'll receive 50% of your equipment costs (up to Rs 500,000). Funds are disbursed directly or as reimbursement.
